RIVAH Christmas Toy Drive

The smiles, joy and happiness that was shared around Guyana this Christmas to all the kids and families were indeed heartwarming and a success.

RIVAH’s Santa and his helpers are all volunteers of Rafieya’s International Vision and Hope and dedicated their time and efforts over the past weeks on our Rivah Toy Drive. The response from the businesses and persons in the community and overseas were overwhelming and we were able to collect and pack over 150 gifts and toys for children all over the regions in Guyana.

We visited several 4 hospitals - Skeldon Hospital, Port Mourant Hospital, New Amsterdam Hospital and Georgetown Hospital. The RIVAH Team also visited the following 8 Orphanages - Anjuman Orphanage (25)

Canaan Orphanage (15), Albion Orphanage (35), Alpha Children Home (1), Children of Promise (10), Shaheed Girls Orphanage, Shaheed Boys Orphanage and Bal Nivas Orphanage. We also visited more than 10 families in the several villages and met with them at their home and share the toys and cheers for the holidays.

Thank you all for the donations and for making our event a success - Govindsammy Mall – Rose Hall

For those we may have not mentioned thank you very much.

I am a huge believer in giving back and helping in the community and the world. Think globally, act locally I suppose. I believe that the measure of a person's life is the affect they have on others. The spirit of Christmas is the spirit of love and of generosity and of goodness. It illuminates the picture window of the soul, and we look out upon the world's busy life and become more interested in people than in things.

We wish you all Happy Holidays and a Prosperous 2020!

You may not always have a comfortable life and you will not always be able to solve all of the world's problems at once but don't ever underestimate the importance you can have because history has shown us that courage can be contagious and hope can take on a life of its own. Michelle Obama

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Supporting the fighters. Admiring the survivors. Honoring the taken. And never, ever giving up hope."

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a chance to raise awareness about the importance of finding breast cancer early. Make a difference! Spread the word about mammograms, and encourage communities, organizations, families, and individuals to get involved.

Our RIVAH TEAM took part in the PINKTOBER in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month as they all wore pink and had a balloon release into the sky. Balloon releases are done to raise awareness of a cause or campaign.

The long-standing awareness campaign definitely means different things to different people. For some, it’s about celebrating strength and survival. For others, advocacy and a push to educate people about the realities of breast cancer, particularly metastatic disease.

"We don't know how strong we are until being strong is the only choice we have."

Candle light Vigil - Suicide Prevention and Awareness

It Only Takes One Person to Make a Difference. We often think that it takes a group of people to make a difference. Rarely do we ever realize that all it really takes is one person, or one situation. As we continue to observe Suicide Prevention Month, Let us join hands and hearts together and light a candle as we remember our love ones we lost to suicide but also give strength and love to those who are suffering today. If you cannot join a group, just light a candle in your home. Send me your photos and location as we spread awareness around the world on Suicide Prevention and Awareness.#rivah #candlelightvigil #love #family #friends #hope

LETS CHALK MENTAL HEALTH

Rivah members and supporters took to the streets of Guyana in several regions, England and in USA - Virginia & New York to chalk Mental health in Guyana and USA. Thank you guys for supporting and starting the conversation.

COMBATING SUICIDE IN GUYANA

As I continue my work with RIVAH, I would like to focus my efforts on Suicide in Guyana. According to the Guyana times report, the suicide rate has increased in Guyana, signalling the need for more mental health workshops, counselling centers and the active involvement of the Private Sector in curbing the worrying issue of suicide. I urge my fellow pageant sisters, friends, fans, families and private businesses to join me in this fight to combat suicide as we educate, support and rebuild a strong foundation for our future generations.

WALK TO FIGHT SUICIDE - USA - TEAM GUYANA 2018

Marching with signs with encouraging messages such as “Working together to end suicide”, various organisations, including the Massy Group of Companies and Rafieya’s International Vision & Hope (RIVAH), joined hands with POTS to deliver a reminder to Guyanese that suicide is still a problem being faced.
RIVAH, a domestic violence-based non-governmental organisation (NGO), has over the years lent support to organisations such as POTS. On Sunday, the NGO donated $200,000 to POTS.
Speaking on behalf of RIVAH, Vice President Zalena Khan said the donation is the first manifestation of what RIVAH intends to do on an annual basis.
“Even though (RIVAH is) in its launch, we have since been focusing on domestic violence. We have since decided to focus on suicide as well. When we saw that POTS was doing this walk, we decided that we would like to be a part of it as well.
In our first effort to support this organisation, our focus is to support (this) organisation and to provide that financial support to provide what is needed, whether it’s for schools, brochures, or for awareness round the country,” the RIVAH Vice President said. #RIVAH #GUYANA #POTS #MASSEY

WALK FOR HOPE

As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives. Henry David Thoreau
